I probably harp on this way too much but frankly, it is most likely the #1 thing keeping your Facebook ads from working.
Know your ideal customer inside and out!
That is where targeting begins by identifying all the things your ideal customer loves and those things that stress them out.
There is a really cool tool by HubSpot to create your customer avatar:
http://makemypersona.com
If you haven’t used this tool yet or otherwise done a similar exercise please do it before you ever run another ad.
On this episode, I dive into creating an extremely targeted audience and how to narrow it down by adding additional demographic or behavioral factors.
Also, I cover how to exclude certain factors that maybe you don’t want your ideal audience to have.

Quit keeping your free content a secret!
It would be awesome to write an epic blog post and then some semi-famous influencer just happened upon it and promoted the heck out of it for you!
However, until that time you better count on promoting your free content yourself and Facebook ads are the perfect way to do it.
On this episode, I cover the best kind of content to promote and why it makes so much sense running paid traffic to it.
These are ads you just keep running 365 days a year.

Hey Everybody,
This is my very first Special Edition of the Facebook Ads with a Twang podcast!
This is NOT the usual 10 minute or less tip but a 45 minute extravaganza.
Maybe extravaganza is a little much but it really is like a full training.
This episode is for coaches who are either new to Facebook ads or may be concerned about the technology part of it or you’ve been running ads without getting much traction.
If any of that sounds familiar then you’re in the right place.
Here is what I cover on this episode:
So there is A LOT to this episode. You might need to listen to it a couple times to get the full effect.
On the episode I talk about my Free How Coaches Can Create Successful Facebook Ads mini-course to accompany everything I talk about.
There are 4 lessons and I included 4 bonuses. I probably went overboard.

Whether you’re new to Facebook ads or are a seasoned Facebook ads professional it is really easy to over think your ads.
I catch myself doing this all the time.
“Wow, look at this new tool that is in power editor. What does it do? Does it even work? What am I gonna test it on? How can I fit it into any of the campaigns I have running?”
“How many images do I need to test?”
“What is the best strategy?”
“How do I know if it is working?”
“What if I check the wrong box or don’t do something right?”
And on and on…
There are a lot of cool tools you can use in your Facebook ads. But if you’re not quite sure what they do and especially if ‘tech’ stuff seems overwhelming then just stick to the basics.
This episode is just about a 10 step process to follow to get your ads running.
Don’t get stuck on all the fancy new things. Keep it simple.
Simple works in your ad copy.
Simple works in your ad campaign.

Here is a 4th retargeting strategy and really it is an ‘add-on’ to other strategies.
The example I use is from episode 30 where I cover a particular strategy.
Then on this episode, I explain how to add this on.
Now I’m going to warn you. This isn’t for every market and a lot of people don’t like this approach because they feel like they’re their product/service away.
What I’m going to tell you is that there is so much more hidden value than getting the sale. You’re going to find out a lot about what your audience is thinking in regards to value and price of your offer.
Take this strategy and try it. See what shakes out and then decide.
Whatever you do follow up with those that buy and talk to them. That insight alone is worth it.

What happens after your Facebook ad starts to really take off and you want to scale it?
Do you just up the budget to infinity?
That’s what most people do and more often than not they’re in for a rude awakening.
It makes sense though. If you’re spending $50 a day and it is working out then why not spend $500 a day?
The problem there is the Facebook algorithm. It just doesn’t work that way… ugh.
On this episode, I’m talking about how to scale in multiple ways so you can take that great ad and maximize the potential.
I pack a lot in on this so pay attention and do it right.. Otherwise, it may cost you more than you want.

What if you could train Facebook to send you the best leads?
Guess what? You can!
The way we do this is by ‘training’ or ‘seasoning’ the Facebook pixel.
On this episode, I cover the best way to train your pixel so you can get in front of more of the right people with your message.
I’m talking about things like - custom conversions, standard events, which objective to choose, how the Facebook algorithm works and how to take the information you’re getting so you can find even more ideal leads.
And - I review the best practices… at least from my experience.
Fair warning… this is a little more advanced.
So if you aren’t quite sure what a pixel is please check out episode 15 where I go over the basics.
Hope you enjoy it and please leave me a review. Thanks!

Over the last few years that Facebook ads have been around there seems to be this fear (borderline paranoia) about upsetting the algorithm by changing a running ad.
On this episode, I’m covering what you can change, what you can’t and some best practices for when you need to make a change but don’t want to screw anything up.
Some basic rules of thumb are:
Can you change the targeting? Technically yes.
However, when you change the targeting you are telling Facebook “Hey, originally I wanted to target these particular people or interests but now I want to target these instead.”
As a result, Facebook will then need to go back to the drawing board and figure out exactly what you’re looking for.
Instead, duplicate your ad set and make the changes. Then shut off the original one.

Facebook ad costs seem to be on the increase. Actually, they’ve always been on the increase.
It is inevitable that the cost of any marketing platform will go up.
There are short-term increases - such as during the holidays when there is an influx of advertisers trying to capitalize on this time of year.
Then there are long-term increases. Like the news feed being completely full so now you’re always competing against multiple other businesses for that space.
How much are you willing to pay to be in the feed?
How relevant is your content to the audience?
These questions are crucial because the first one dictates what you can do profitably and the second tells you how Facebook sees what your advertising and therefore how much they should charge you.
If your ads don’t resonate with the audience you can bet your ad costs will go up.
You used to be able to just throw out any ole’ ad but now you really have to use your marketing skills.
Make sure you’re targeting the right people.
Have great copy and a compelling image.
Or, really consider going to video!
Facebook is all about video and the sooner you can become all about video the more your ads will work.
Check out this episode where I cover all this and a lot more...
